May 24, 2024 · They still sail. Sunfish are pretty tough little boats and living in a garage for 40 years is a pretty easy life compared to what a lot of them get. It takes a lot of active abuse and neglect to truly "total" a Sunfish. There's a reason they've been building and selling Sunfish for almost 3/4 of a century.

Aug 22, 2011 · I'm not an expert in this, but I do have three Sunfish. I use a knot that looks like the attached photo. Though each knot is a bit different from one other—each has only tightened, and none has "unknotted". To keep the knot from sliding, I wrapped the spar with duct tape, then tightened a plastic cable-tie around the lower end of the duct tape.

Jul 23, 2010 · The head of the skid is up on shore and the foot is on cinderblocks in about a foot of water. The stern of the Sunfish is about 2 feet out of the water. I have a single roller centered on the back of skid that the Sunfish rolls on when I winch it up on the skid. The Sunfish rolls of the skid easiily by picking up on the bow handle.
