Nov 7, 2019 · I recently found a Burris XTR II 3X15 illuminated FOR $599. Put it on a Tikka 25-06 hunting rifle and LOVE IT. Great, I'm glad it worked out for you! When you turn down the magnification on a FFP scope to let more light through the scope in early morning or late evening, the reticle is so thin it completely disappears.

I run the 3-15 at max magnification most of the time; the 5-25 gets moved around in its range. The 3x15 might be subjectively brighter - one would expect that given the magnification differential - but it's not something I've noticed when shooting the rifles back-to-back. Note - the 3-15 is SFP and the 5-25 is FFP.

This is a general purpose gun that will be used for hunting, range shooting,and general plinking. I see mostly close range and mid range shooting with the max probably being around 600 yards.
