The Committee concluded that for it to advise on the use of thiabendazole on citrus fruit, it would need to have some indication on the total human intake from all sources, including the intake resulting from the use of thiabendazole as a pesticide and in veterinary medicine.

The Committee was asked to re-evaluate in the light of the most recent information on technology and toxicology, the modified celluloses permitted by the Council Directive relating to emulsifiers, stabilisers, thickeners and gelling agents for use in foodstuffs (74/329/EEC, as amended).

To review certain aspects of the Directive on Emulsifiers, Stabilizers, Thickeners and Gelling Agents for use in Foodstuffs1, in particular the acceptability, from the point of view of safety in use, of substances listed in Annex II of the Directive.
