Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 were higher for the fourth straight day in the run-up to the presentation of the Budget 2025-26

Sensex climbed 754 pts to 77,514 and Nifty rose 274 points to 23,523 on Friday. Market cap of BSE-listed firms climbed to Rs 4.23 lakh crore.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50 opened marginally higher ahead of the Economic Survey 2025, and tracking gains in global markets. Optimism is also brewing as investors look for potential catalysts in the upcoming Union Budget. The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a tepid start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,150 level, a premium of nearly 2 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 161.56 points to 76,921.37, while the NSE Nifty added 64.60 points to 23,314.10 as of 9:25 AM.
