After an off day Wednesday, the second day of action at the 2025 Minnesota boys' basketball state tournament is happening Thursday at Target Center and Williams Arena in Minneapolis.  The top four seeds advanced to the semifinals in 4A,

Deron Russell scored a game-high 38 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds to slowly but surely lead second-seeded Waseca to the victory over third-seeded Breck. Waseca outscored Breck 34-30 in the first half, and did so in the second half by the exact same margin. Miles Newton led Breck with 24 points.

Wiggins is the No. 1 player in Minnesota's graduating class of 2026. The 6-foot-4 guard is a consensus top-100 player nationally.

The top-seeded, defending Class A champion Cherry boys basketball team have toppled Nevis in the Minnesota state semifinal.

Alexandria and Mankato East had met at the state tournament before, and Saturday's game had the highest stakes. Alexandria beat Mankato East 62-57 in the 2023 state tournament quarterfinals , but Mankato East returned the favor a year later, winning 65-62 in the 2024 state tournament semifinals .

Joe Brown and Michael Lyne discuss the players who earned spots on the 2025 All-Area Boys Basketball team. Dawson-Boyd led the area with three players on the squad. BOLD, Central Minnesota Christian School and Montevideo each had two selections to the All-Area team.

The Shakopee Sabers boy's basketball team narrowly fell to Wayzata ... these guys all the way through their senior year of high school," said Jason Cordes, the assistant coach for the Sabers.

A three-time player of the year, a four-year force and a Lewis-Clark State signee top the all-state selections.
