Ireland is set for a mix of harsh weather over the coming days in the wake of Storm Eowyn as Met Eireann has issued a number separate weather warnings for snow, wind and rain with some counties placed under a number of Weather Warnings.

Met Eireann warned there will be dangerous travelling conditions and further damage to already weakened structures and trees following Storm Eowyn

Met Éireann has predicted a cold morning with icy stretches and also with the risk of some sleet and snow showers, adding that there will be isolated thunderstorms. This may hamper efforts to restore power the the thousands still left without light, heat, and water.

Gusts of 174km/h have been recorded in Mace Head as Storm Éowyn batters Ireland. Hurricane force mean speeds of 135km/h were also recorded in Mace Head, breaking the mean wind speed record of 131 km/h set in 1945 at Foynes, Limerick.

While Storm Éowyn gradually eases off Ireland through the afternoon, we may not be clear of stormy weather for the weekend as Met Eireann's latest update suggests further 'gale force' gusts to hit. The Status Red wind warning remains in place for Cork,
