When will Houston freeze? When will it snow? Here's a timeline from the latest forecasts
While forecast models still have plenty of time to change significantly, here’s a timeline of the freeze, based on the latest information.
Parts of Houston region could see up to five inches of snow this week, NWS says in updated forecast
As confidence in the forecast continues to grow, meteorologists say there could be heavy snowfall, particularly north of Interstate 10, with some areas potentially seeing up to five inches of snow, according to a National Weather Service update on Sunday.
Houston facing 'severe' winter storm with up to 6 inches of potential snow
Southeast Texas' outlook for next week's winter storm continues to worsen, with a growing likelihood of a deep freeze and substantial wintry precipitation, snow and sleet in the Houston area. Space City Weather's Eric Berger published an atypical afternoon report on Friday warning of an "increasingly likely" and drastic mix of hard freeze and snowy conditions expected in Southeast Texas early next week.
Here's how much snow we're expecting in the Houston area and when
Areas that will likely see the least amount of snow will be located along the immediate coastline. Snow totals here may get cut down due to mixing issues with sleet and rain. Additionally, temperatures near or just above freezing will compress any snow that does fall, leading to smaller totals.
