Defense Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – and seven other people died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, the state-owned Ghana News Agency reported.

The crash of a military helicopter in Ghana on Wednesday killed all eight people aboard including the West African country's defense and environment ministers and other top officials, the government said.

The plane took off from the capital Accra at 09:12 local time and was heading towards Obuasi city for a national event. However, no information has been received yet about how this accident happened.
