Cracker Barrel won't charge extra for eggs in the midst of a national shortage due to bird flu, unlike its rival Waffle House.

Waffle House’s announcement was attributed to soaring egg prices due to shortages caused by an aggressive strain of the avian flu.

In a statement shared with Nexstar, a Cracker Barrel spokesperson suggested that its new egg deal is a direct response to Waffle House’s decision to begin charging a surcharge for every egg ordered.
