The Minnesota Wild added a new forward to their NHL roster thanks to the waiver wire. After the Nashville Predators placed veteran winger Vinnie Hinostroza on waivers, the Wild jumped on the available player and claimed him.

Hinostroza began the season in Milwaukee, where he led the AHL in scoring with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) by the time Nashville recalled him at the end of December. He has since appeared in 13 games for the Predators, recording a pair of assists and averaging 11:32 of ice time per game during that span.

The first shot in "Anthem-gate" was fired over the weekend in Canadian cities, when fans in Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto (at an NBA game) booed the U.S. national anthem, likely in response to President Donald Trump announcing significant tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China.
