There was no change at the top of any class this week as the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released their latest girls basketball polls. Johnston (5A), Sioux City Bishop Heelan (4A), Mount Vernon (3A),

Waukee Northwest’s leading scorers, Vana Bilic and Croatt, were limited by Valley, which Powell expected. And even those players' slower nights are impressive, with Bilic scoring nine points – all off 3-pointers – and Croatt leading the Wolves with 16 points.

The Iowa high school basketball season is well underway and there are plenty of games to keep an eye on, both boys and girls, happening around the state Tuesday night. Check out scores from many of the games across the state below.

Here is a look at this week’s High School on SI Top 10 Iowa high school girls basketball rankings by class for the week of Jan. 13: 1. Johnston (11-0) Previous rank: 1 Convincing wins over Waukee and Southeast Polk keep the Dragons moving right along.

If there were immediate standouts from Tuesday’s matchup, Waukee’s Emilie Sorensen and Ankeny’s Savannah Gage were those players. And despite playing for opposing programs, the two athletes share one attribute: Sorensen and Gage are the only seniors in their teams' starting lineups.

Section III teams were featured in the latest state girls basketball rankings from the New York State Sportswriters Association. Indian River, Westhill, Little Falls and Oriskany/Westmoreland were the only teams to move up spots.

Section V girls basketball remains strongly represented in the latest state rankings from the New York State Sportswriters Association. The latest list reflects games played through Jan. 12. Twenty local teams were included in this edition.
