The Trump administration is sending mixed messages about whether Fed Chair Jerome Powell should stay with the central bank until the end of his term.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is getting lit up on social media after falling for a resignation letter from Fed Chair Jerome Powell which seemed to be a very clear fake.

Trump has railed against Powell, who he initially appointed to the role during his first term in 2018, in public remarks and on social media, nicknaming him “too late” and calling him “terrible” as the central bank’s head has continued to keep rates steady.
