Students at Covington Middle School are heading back to the classroom on March 18. This comes after a carbon monoxide leak at the end of January which caused an evacuation, students haven’t returned since.

LOW MOOR, Va. (WSET) — Following extensive safety evaluations and inspections, Alleghany Highlands Public Schools (AHPS) announced on Wednesday the reopening of Covington Middle School (CMS) to in-person instruction.

Covington Middle School announces they will be reopening for in-person instruction following an ongoing carbon-monoxide leak investigation. The leak caused an evacuation on January 31, and the school continued practicing virtual learning until the building was safe to enter.
