Cuts to U.S. Department of Agriculture programs that provide food for schools and food banks have communities across the country worried about hunger.

Robinson is worried about the ripple effect of the USDA cuts since the funding goes through a chain of organizations. In his case, the agency funded Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people and often partners with Catholic Charities to assist local families facing food insecurity.

The food bank's 90,000-square-mile coverage area includes all of Northern Nevada and a sliver of eastern California. Last year, it distributed 25 million pounds of food, according to Jocelyn Lantrip,
