In 1999, Jones was voted NL Most Valuable Player. An eight-time All-Star, he won the NL batting title in 2008. Jones was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018. He’s currently a hitting consultant with the Braves.

The Michigan men's basketball team wasn't successful in clinching a spot in the Elite Eight, falling to Auburn Friday night in Sweet 16.

The Michigan State Spartans pulled off a win against No. 6 seed Ole Miss on March 28, and doing so, they earned themselves a spot in the Elite Eight. It was a tight, 73-70 win victory, but a win is a win.

The No. 2 seed Spartans (29-6) face the No. 6 seed Ole Miss Rebels (24-11) in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner will face either No. 5 seed Michigan (27-9) or No. 1 seed Auburn (30-5) Sunday in an Elite 8 game.

Jase Richardson scored 24 points and Michigan State surged past Mississippi in the second half for a 73-70 victory on Friday night in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Michigan's Goldin was fouled after a layup attempt, but he missed both attempts. Broome helped Auburn retake the lead with 34 seconds left in the first half, while Goldin missed the last attempt before halftime. It was a 30-29 Tigers lead going into the locker room.
