School divisions in Northern Virginia and Maryland are continuing to adjust their schedules as extreme cold temperatures persist in the DMV. On Thursday, Jan. 23, school officials announced that schools would open two hours late as morning temperatures were forecasted to drop to the single digits.

The National Weather Service has put out a flurry of advisories due to the cold and potential for snow in Virginia.

Some Maryland schools will be delayed on Wednesday, January 22, with wind chills falling to their lowest of the season.

Sunday night's snowfall, combined with freezing conditions, continues to disrupt commutes to schools across the D.C. region.

For a second day in a row, several school districts across Northern Virginia and Maryland have adjusted their schedules due to below-freezing temperatures, and icy road conditions. On Jan. 22, temperatures across the region continued in the low teens with wind chills dropping into the negatives.
