A Riverside County sheriff’s motorcycle deputy died in an on-duty traffic collision on the 91 Freeway in Riverside on Wednesday, Jan. 8, Sheriff Chad Bianco said.

"The Riverside County Sheriff's Office and your deputies have not, are not and will not engage in any type of immigration enforcement," Bianco said in a videotaped message published on social media.

Exact circumstances surrounding the emergency remain unclear, but Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials say that it happened a little after 7 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Perris.
