If Cole Caufield, who is undoubtedly having the best season of his career, continues his goal-scoring pace, he will finish the season with 41 goals. He would thus become the first 40-goal scorer for the Canadiens since Max Pacioretty Vincent Damphousse in 1993-1994.

Montreal had the puck in Carolina's zone, and Caufield poked the puck free to teammate Patrick Laine, who then found an open Nick Suzuki, who skated up and fired home a wrist shot to give the Canadiens a three-goal margin. Following the goal, the Canadiens posted on social media, announcing that Caufield had made history with his assist.
