Michigan State ascended to its highest ranking in the AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll this season on Monday with a move up one spot to No. 7 after another perfect week in Big Ten play. The Spartans went 2-0 on the week with wins over Illinois and Rutgers to improve to 8-0 in conference play.

The Michigan State women’s team (17-3, 7-2) jumped five spots to No. 16 in the new rankings after a pair of wins last week – 82-61 against Penn State and 88-58 at Michigan on Saturday. The Spartans have won five straight and are just one spot below their highest ranking of the season.

Vanderbilt joined the rankings for the first time since December 2015. The Commodores are No. 24 after defeating Kentucky 74-69 on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped from No. 9 last week to No. 12 in this week's poll.
