More countries plan to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in remarks to the press on Thursday with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, soon after Budapest announced that it would exit the court.
The decision comes as Netanyahu makes his first trip to an ICC member since the body issued an arrest warrant last year. Hungary, as well as other European states such as Germany that are signatories to the ICC’s founding Rome Statute, have signalled that they would host Netanyahu and find ways to avoid arresting him.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, who is visiting Hungary despite facing an international arrest warrant, praised the move.
