Matthew Huttle, fatally shot by a Jasper County, Indiana, deputy, was resisting arrest. State Police investigation ongoing.

Indiana State Police say a deputy tried to arrest the man when an “altercation took place.” Investigators say the suspect had a firearm.

"During the traffic stop, the officer attempted to arrest the suspect when the suspect resisted," according to state police.

Matthews, 35, of Winamac, was arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department for driving while suspended. Anthony A. Parker, 46, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested

The Indiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting, which led to the death of Matthew Huttle, 42, from Hobart, on Sunday.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Merit Board will meet on Monday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in Rensselaer. The meeting is held in the administration office in the conference room.
