Anders Lee scored a first period goal in his 800th NHL game, and Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves for his 20th career shutout as the Islanders blanked the Vegas Golden Knights 4-0 before a sellout crowd of 17,713 at T-Mobile Arena.

The Islanders’ season-high three-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night at UBS Arena with a 2-0 loss to the Senators. It was their sixth shutout loss of the season. The Islanders dropped to 17-19-7 (41 points) overall and 7-10-2 on home ice this season.

Lou Lamoriello had just admitted Thursday morning that his team still was searching for an identity when reporters walked into the Islanders dressing room and spotted a toy rubber chicken in Anders Lee’s stall.

The Islanders play their first game in Salt Lake City when they visit the Utah Hockey Club (9 p.m., et, MSGSN2)

This looked more like the product the Islanders have put out for most of the season and the Senators came away 2-0 victors.

- The Senators are three games above NHL.-500 with a record of 21-18-3. The Sens had a hot December with a record of 9-3-1 and a .731 winning percentage that ranked fourth in the NHL for the month. Ottawa went on a six-game winning streak from Dec. 11-21, immediately following a 4-2 loss to the Isles on Dec. 8.

The New York Islanders hosted the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night to wrap up their season series. The game was uneventful as both defenses stepped up and aside from an Adam Gaudette goal in the second period and an empty-net goal,
