An increasing number of student deportation threats involve the revocation of visas based on relatively minor offenses like years-old misdemeanors, according to immigration attorneys, or sometimes no reason at all.

An international student at the University of Iowa had their visa revoked, according to an email sent to members of the campus community.

In an update to its international student community, Harvard stated that seven more student visas had been revoked by federal authorities.
