Just Stop Oil protesters disrupt Sigourney Weaver's 'The Tempest' London performance, demanding fossil fuel phaseout in climate action demonstration.

Bafta-award winning actress Weaver plays the storm-creating magician Prospero in the new staging of the Shakespeare classic, in a role typically played by a man. The production opened in December and will run until February 1. The Metropolitan Police and the Theatre Royal Drury Lane have been approached for comment.

Two people have been arrested after Just Stop Oil protesters disrupted a West End production of The Tempest starring Sigourney Weaver.

The Alien actress, who plays Prospero in the revival of the Shakespeare play, was sitting on a chair in the middle of a scene when two activists from the climate protest group Just Stop Oil took to the stage at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Sigourney Weaver’s West End production of The Tempest was disrupted by climate crisis protesters on Monday night. Just Stop Oil activists took to the stage and unfurled a sign saying “Over 1.5 Degrees is a Global Shipwreck” in the group’s signature orange.
