Six people have been killed after a small plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. The seven-seater Cessna 414 crashed five miles west of Point Loma just off the San Diego coast about 12.50pm yesterday. The plane took off from San Diego International Airport and was just six minutes into its flight to Phoenix, Arizona, when it crashed.

Two Chinese aircraft carrier strike groups have simultaneously deployed to the Western Pacific – a first for the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), Japanese officials said on Tuesday. The Coast Guard has suspended its search for six people who were aboard a Cessna 414 aircraft that crashed into the Pacific Ocean off the San Diego coast on Sunday.

The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 414, was reported down shortly before 1:00 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Tropical Storm Alvin was located about 670 miles (1,080 kilometers) south-southeast of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said.
