Anthony Volpe was not in the New York Yankees' lineup Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, a day after getting hit in the left elbow by Walker Buehler's pitch. The durable shortstop missed just his second game of the season.

After Friday night’s 9-6 win over the Red Sox, Boone had to think about what he wanted to do with shortstop Anthony Volpe, who had to leave after three innings with a left elbow concussion that occurred on a second-inning, bases-loaded hit by pitch.

Still, the team is playing it safe, with Oswald Peraza expected to cover shortstop duties for the foreseeable future. Oddly, Jazz Chisholm, who is coming off a great Friday night, was also out of the lineup Saturday with Pablo Reyes playing this base.
