The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers reportedly have permission to speak with Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman released a short 32 Thoughts article late Wednesday night,

The Vancouver Canucks almost had a JT Miller trade in place with the New York Rangers, and the Carolina Hurricanes have now entered the chat.

UPDATE: According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, not only are the New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils in the mix to acquire Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller but the New York Islanders may also be getting in on the action. The Rangers, who began the season as projected Stanley Cup contenders, took a steep slide in November through the end of 2024 and are now unlikely to even make the playoffs. New York is 20-20-2 and sits four points outside of a playoff spot with 40 games remaining.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks were progressing on a deal for J.T. Miller before everything ultimately fell through. However, he did not divulge the reasoning behind why trade was nixed.
