The mayor responded with defiance a day after his remarks about the number of Black people holding top city jobs gave the Justice Department an opening to launch a civil rights probe of Chicago’s hiring practices.

Mayor Brandon Johnson defended his hiring practices after the U.S. Department of Justice sent a letter notifying him they are opening an investigation into the City of Chicago.

Asked whether he would be open to any deal allowing the Chicago Bears to break their Soldier Field lease, Mayor Brandon Johnson said “it hasn’t come up.”
