Robert De Niro plays both Vito Genovese and Frank Costello in Barry Levinson's new film "The Alto Knights," about organized crime in New York City.

"I noticed it was called Wise Guys at that time," De Niro says. " [Vito] had a social club called 'The Alto Knights'. [Nick] and I had a meeting. I said, 'Where did you get this place, The Alto Knights? When I was a kid, I would hang out there.'" Nicholas Pileggi had his own connection to the social club, taken over by Genovese in the '50s.
