There is a noticeable lack of star talent in the 2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. While there are some high-flyers in the field, including back-to-back reigning dunk contest champion Mac McClung as well as Andre Jackson Jr. and rookies Stephon Castle and Matas Buzelis, the lack of a big name in the pool is a bit disappointing—albeit not too surprising.

Mac McClung has gone two-for-two in his Slam Dunk contest appearances, cementing himself as one of the best performers in the NBA All-Star weekend's premier event. He will attempt to join Nate Robinson as the only three-time dunk winner on Saturday.

The 6-foot-2 McClung — a standout guard in the G League who has appeared in only five NBA games — is headed back to All-Star weekend, looking to become the first person to win the league’s dunk title in three consecutive years. Nate Robinson is the only three-time dunk champion, though his didn’t come in back-to-back-to-back years.
