Invest 93L is taking its time moving across Florida, and it could still become a tropical depression later this week.
The hatched areas on the National Hurricane Center's tropical outlook map indicate "areas where a tropical cyclone — which could be a tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane — could develop," said National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Jamie Rhome.
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which is expected to be more active than usual, has so far produced three named storms. The latest, Tropical Storm Chantal, impacted the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
A disturbance in the Atlantic could develop into a tropical depression on Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Tropical cyclones typically drop large amounts of rain along and near the storm's path. The slower and more significant the storm’s size, the higher the likelihood of higher rainfall totals.
