Thai and Cambodian leaders agreed to halt hostilities in their deadliest border conflict in more than a decade, after a push by the US and regional powers for a diplomatic resolution.

Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire” beginning at midnight local time (12 p.m. ET Monday), Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Monday, following days of clashes across the two countries’ disputed border.

The fighting, which began last Thursday after a land mine explosion injured Thai soldiers, has killed at least 35 people and displaced over 260,000 people.
