Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday that the rescue agencies are leaving no stone unturned to save the eight trapped workers inside the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana.

Eight workers remain trapped in the SLBC tunnel in Telangana. The incident occurred on Saturday, following which a rescue operation was launched. With the rescue effort now on Day 2, the NDRF, SDRF and Indian Army have sent in teams to save the eight workers.

A team of 584 skilled personnel of Army, Navy, Singareni Collieries and other agencies along with central and state disaster response teams, have conducted tunnel inspections seven times, official sources said adding gas cutters to cut the metal rod are continuously working.

Eight people were trapped when a section of a tunnel in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district collapsed on Saturday morning.

The collapse occurred on February 22 when a section of the tunnel’s roof gave way. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) broke into two, with its tail unit found just 50 meters from the tunnel’s end.

The collapse came just four days after construction resumed following a lengthy hiatus, adding urgency and frustration to the operation.
