A new wildfire was reported today at 12:55 a.m. in San Luis Obispo County, California. Wellsona Fire has been burning on private land. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

The Madre Fire in California has burned over 35,000 acres, becoming the largest wildfire of 2025. With only 5% containment, it has forced evacuations and closed Highway 166.
