Ryan Rickelton struck a career-best unbeaten 176 and his captain Temba Bavuma scored 106 as South Africa pummelled Pakistan’s seamers at Newlands to finish the first day of the second and final test on 316 for four on Friday.

Rain delayed the start of the third day’s play in the first cricket test between South Africa and Pakistan with no play possible before lunch.

Left-handed opener Ryan Rickelton struck his second test century with an unbeaten 106 as South Africa reached 184 for three at tea on the first day of the second and final test against Pakistan at Newlands on Friday.

The 50-over World Cup is far older and has been competed for since back in 1975. Australia are the record winners having run out victorious on five occasions (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015). Ryan Rickelton, promoted to open the batting in Tony de Zorzi's injury-enforced absence, scored fifty but was the only one of South Africa's top three to kick on as Pakistan made three important breakthroughs in the morning session.
