Mark Laforest, an undrafted goaltender who played two seasons for the Detroit Red Wings in the 1980s, died on Monday. He was 62. Laforest, known as “Trees,” joined the Detroit organization as a free agent in 1983 and played for the NHL club in 1985-86 and 1986-87, going 6-22-0, with a 4.74 goals-against average and .851 save percentage.
