A 40-year-old mother was one of six people shot in a New York City convenience store when she was used as a shield by a suspected target, authorities said.

Ten people – including some minors – who were waiting in line for a private event at a nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, were injured late Wednesday night in an apparent drive-by shooting, New York City police officials said.

At least 10 people were shot outside a Queens nightclub on New Year's Day, according to the New York City Police Department.
