MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The state Department of Natural Resources reports Monday a boat explosion over the weekend on the Mississippi River in northwestern Wisconsin injured eight people. The DNR explained the boat driver tried to start the engine twice on Saturday near Prescott. On a third try, the engine exploded.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating a boat explosion on the Mississippi River near Prescott in Pierce County, West Central Wisconsin, on Saturday. According to officials, the explosion ejected all 11 passengers from the vessel.

Eliotte Heinz, a 22-year-old graduate student in Wisconsin was found dead on Wednesday after going missing over the weekend, officials said.
