Jinna Han, a 13-year-old figure skater from Mansfield, was among the victims of a plane crash near Ronald Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, D.C. Wednesday night. She was traveling with her mother, Jin, and other members from the Skating Club of Boston.

Jinna Han and Spencer Lane, two skaters training at the Norwood club, and their mothers were killed. Two coaches at the facility were also among the victims.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A crash between an American Airlines jet and an Army helicopter has killed teen figure skaters returning from a national meet with their mothers and coaches, as well as a group of union steamfitters from the Washington, D.C. area.

The American Airlines mid-air collision that claimed 67 lives, included six people with ties to The Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, which is the epicenter of the sport in the area.

A 13-year-old figure skater who died when an Army helicopter crashed into American Airlines flight 5342 on Wednesday was described as "wonderful" by her coach.

My response was to be with people I care about and love, and I needed support,” said Nancy Kerrigan. “That’s why I’m here. It’s a shock.”
