Young campers and a dad saving his family were among the dozens killed in the historic flash floods that tore through central Texas over the holiday weekend.

Sally Sample Graves was a grandmother who was killed in the flooding, the BBC reported. Sarah Sample wrote that a massive wave destroyed her grandmother’s home. Sarah Sample’s father and his dog were also in the home at the time but both survived.

Flash flooding in Texas Hill Country, triggered by intense thunderstorms, has resulted in at least 81 deaths, including at least 28 children. Camp Mystic, a girls' camp located on the Guadalupe River, confirmed at least 27 deaths among campers and counselors.

It took just 90 minutes for the river to rise more than 30 feet. A look at the historic flood levels now etched into Central Texas history.

At least 82 people are dead and at least 41 more are missing after devastating flash floods slammed Texas Hill Country, with water rescues taking place along the Guadalupe River, which rose rapidly early Friday morning to the height of a two-story building.
