It's the end of an era in the Chicago area and in Washington, D.C., as Democratic Congressman Danny Davis announced Thursday he's not running for another term in 2026​, after serving nearly 30 years in Congress.

US Rep. Danny Davis, a congressman since 1997, also announced he’s endorsing veteran state Rep. La Shawn Ford for the 7th Congressional District seat.

U.S. Rep. Danny Davis won’t seek reelection next year after 15 terms in office. Davis is the latest longtime Illinois Democrat to announce their retirement from Congress.
