The body of a 28-year-old woman who went missing after she and her dog fell into a Washington state river has been recovered, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. Zuleika Witron's body was found in the river by a civilian flying a drone in the area Friday morning, according to the sheriff's department.

"A loved one witnessed her being swept away in the heavy current and attempted to grab her before being swept away," the agency said. "Due to the nature of the rough terrain and a 50 foot canyon, drones were used to do a search down river for the subject and her dog."

The younger sister of 29-year-old Zuleika Witron, who died after falling into the Carbon River, tells FOX 13 Seattle she is fighting to stay emotionally strong and honor her sister’s legacy.
