Darrell Carter, 33, of Canton, was arrested Thursday by U.S. Marshals, where they later discovered a body in the basement of a home he was hiding in.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The U.S. Marshals arrested a Canton man Wednesday morning in Canal Winchester, where authorities also discovered a deceased woman inside the home.

A manhunt for a fugitive wanted for assault turned into a homicide investigation when authorities found the dead body of a woman in the basement of a home during an arrest in southern Ohio. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office was searching for Darrell Carter Jr.
