The family of Kaylee Goncalves said Monday they were sent "scrambling" after Bryan Kohberger accepted a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.

At the sentencing for the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen, Bryan Kohberger declined to speak, prompting reactions from the victims' family members.

The hearing is set to begin at 9 a.m. Mountain Time on Wednesday, July 23, at the Ada County Courthouse in in Boise, Idaho.
