Active-duty military personnel began arriving along the southern border Thursday evening after President Donald Trump declared a national emergency to address the immigration crisis.

Troops arrived in El Paso. They can make repairs and put physical barriers into place. They will not be detaining or arresting anyone, the Pentagon said.
