The Boston Red Sox are viewed as having too many outfielders. That has pushed star Jarren Duran into trade rumors, and Fox's Ken Rosenthal reported during Saturday night's broadcast that the San Diego Padres have made at least one official offer for Duran, that Boston turned down.

The Padres are expected to target Miami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara and Arizona Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen. What these two have in common is that both are former aces, struggling this season, who could be complicated trade deadline targets.

As the recipients of such a start, the Padres might've seen enough to swing a deal. The Padres are interested in landing Alcantara, and with Gomez's report, the two-time All-Star is trending towards being traded, which is good news for the Padres.
